Value Added Tax (VAT)

Value Added Tax (VAT) was introduced on 1 January 1973 in the United Kingdom upon joining the European Economic Community (EEC) replacing the Purchase Tax (October 1940). Businesses with a turnover above the VAT threshold (currently £85,000) have to register for VAT. Archer Wise provides the services of VAT registration and VAT filing in conjunction with our accounting services. There may other reasons for a business below the threshold wanting to register for VAT. One is to be able to tender for contracts where the conditions of the tender requires the business to be VAT registered or the business owners want a VAT registered status for the credibility of the business.

Archer Wise provides a comprehensive VAT advisory service to its clients updating them on VAT legislation that will impact their business. In addition, Archer Wise assists clients in obtaining the maximum VAT position by advising clients on the VAT schemes available such as the Annual Scheme, Flat Rate Scheme or TOMS.

VAT being primarily driven by legislation made at the European Union, Archer Wise has affiliated itself with the Tax Representative Alliance to provide cross-border VAT advice and services to our international clients.

As with any import/export businesses, there are customs and excise duties to be considered. At Archer Wise, we assist our clients to comply with their filing requirements for customs and excise duties on the imports or exports within the European Aconomic Area (EEA) or internationally.

Please contact us to discuss your requirements for a tailor-made compliance service for VAT, Customs & Excise duties.
